Rakhmad Dewanto is a seasoned executive with more than two decades of experience in Indonesia’s energy and power sectors, specializing in corporate strategy, business development, commercial operations, and primary energy management. A graduate of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Indonesia, he began his professional career at TOTAL E&P Indonesie, a subsidiary of Total Energies S.A.
During his 15 year tenure at TOTAL E&P Indonesie, he held several strategic positions within the Commercial Business Development Division, including Head of Gas Revenue Controller, Head of Market Research, and Head of Export & Domestic Gas Sales Department, where he played a key role in commercial optimization, market analysis, and gas sales strategy.
In 2018, he joined PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam as Commercial Business Development & Strategic Planning Manager. Building on his expertise in commercial strategy, he was appointed Vice President Commercial of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia in 2020.
He was entrusted as Director of Operations & Commercial of PT Nusantara Regas in November 2021, the operator of the West Java Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), where he oversaw the company’s operational excellence and commercial performance in Indonesia’s LNG infrastructure.
In September 2022, he was appointed Director of Gas and Fuel, before subsequently being appointed Chief Executive Officer of PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) in June 2025, a Subholding of PT PLN (Persero) responsible for securing and managing the Company’s primary energy supply, including coal, natural gas/LNG, fuel, biomass, and hydrogen. Under his leadership, PLN EPI strengthened its role in supporting Indonesia’s energy transition while ensuring reliable and sustainable primary energy supply for the national electricity system.
He currently serves as Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development of PT PLN (Persero) starting June 2026. In this role, he leads the Company’s corporate planning, strategic transformation, business development initiatives, investment planning, portfolio management, and long term growth strategy to support PT PLN (Persero)’s vision of becoming an energy digital platform.
Beyond his executive leadership, Rakhmad actively contributes to the advancement of Indonesia’s natural gas industry. He was elected Secretary General of the Indonesian Gas Society (IGS) in 2018 and was appointed Vice Chairman in 2024. The Indonesian Gas Society is the country’s leading natural gas association, comprising more than 25 member companies across the upstream, midstream, downstream, and gas consumer sectors, and serves as a charter member of the International Gas Union (IGU).
